This very talented band from the Tatra Mountain area of Northern Slovakia near the Polish border, play and sing very lively and beautiful music. Their extensive repertoire includes music from all over Europe. After two very successful appearances at the Shetland Folk Festival and once at the Orkney Folk Festival as well as a tour around Scotland in November 2007. They were back in Shetland for the 2010 Lerwick Up Helly Aa and a Short Shetland Tour which got excellent reviews.

The band had an excellent time at the Lerwick Up Helly Aa as musicians for squad number 27. Many late nights were spent during their week up in Shetland, which included various sessions in the Lounge Bar, The Marlex and Da Noost. Their last concert was held in the Cunningsburgh Hall - which included a superb 3 course meal then a spectacular final nights entertainment provided by the Brothers Zamiskovci with support from Leeshinat.

Following on from the bands performances at Up Helly Aa and many excellent nights of musical delight in the pubs in Shetland, they were invited to perform at Manson Grant & The Dynamos Fanclub weekend in Aberdeen. Their outstanding perfomances also lead to the band being invited to attend the Shetland Fiddle & Accordian Festival, which took place in October 2010. As well as playing at these two events the band performed in both Wick & Kirkwall.

"The Brothers Zamiskovci were undoubtedly the surprise hit of the 2004 Shetland Folk Festival, with a tireless enthusiasm for musical sessions that lasted well past the early hours. They delighted audiences throughout our Isles so much that we invited them back for our 2006 festival and hopefully it won't be long before we see them again."

"I Heard of their availability in December 2005 in order to appear at our 24th Orkney Folk Festival in May 2006 and subsequently put their name on our consideration list. Fellow committee members were a bit apprehensive but any doubts were quickly dismissed. From their arrival to their departure the boys gave everything, whether it was appearing in concerts or performing impromtu sessions. They joined aspects of the Festival, ended up one of the highlight acts and certainly added to the Festivals reputation."

Johnny Mowat: Chairman, Orkney Folk Festival.
